National Safety Town Center

Accomplishments

Established in 1964, by Dorothy Chlad Ph.D CSE, National Safety Town Center was the first and only organization dedicated solely to promote preschool-early childhood safety education.

Dorothy Chlad has consulted for the TV program "Sesame Street" and Jim Henson's Muppets.  She has received numerous local, state, national and international awards including the President's Volunteer Action Award from President Reagan and the World Traffic Safety Award.

Bill Cosby serves as Honorary Chairman of this non-profit 501-C3 organization.

In 1982 the International Child Safety & Health Center became a reality to accomodate 'spin off' programs; such as Safety Village, Safety City, Safetyville, and others.
